From October

These are from our trip to Kentucky last October for my sister's wedding. I really do love Kentucky. Look at the colors! This is down by the Ohio River. We would go down here every year to get apple cider and pick pumpkins. We didn't get any pumpkins because we were leaving in two days but it was great to look through them. And Chris made me pick up the biggest one I could find in the patch. I could hardly lift it.

You ever see half a handstand?

Is someone holding my feet or am I just that awesome at hand stands?
(Hint- I'm just that awesome)

Recent Reads, AJ Jacobs

I recently read both The Know-It-All and The Guinea Pig Diaries. Love this guy! Seriously. What can I say, I like funny memoir-like non-fiction. About two years ago I read The Year of Living Biblically. This guy is nuts. But I like. My brain is full of trivia after reading his books. See: Taiping Rebellion

Christmas Decorations

We made two wreaths this year- one out of yarn and felt and one out of pages from an old book. Both with lots and lots of hot glue. I made our stockings out of an old fair isle sweater that I bought at the thrift store. I was going to make this  reindeer-thing out of it, but then I realized that I could make a stocking. So I made two.  I actually hung up our Christmas cards this year. I got that amazing santa + dog picture at the thrift store. It begs a lot of questions:
1. Why would you ever want to get rid of that picture? priceless and
2. Who donates a frame with a picture still in it? Weird.

Our Christmas

We went to church in the morning and then came home and opened presents! Santa! I won't bore you with the pictures of me giving Chris socks. I mean . . . Santa. But I was excited to give him the surfboard case I made him. It's basically a huge gray blob that looks like a whale when you put it on the long board, but he said it was exactly what he wanted. That made me feel nice.
Do you like my stocking? Chris filled mine with awesome stuff- like gum! Is he trying to tell me something?

Recent Reads, Malcolm Gladwell

I've been really into [good] non-fiction lately. Not the dry stuff. But Gladwell I like. I read Outliers  in 2010 and Blink this past December, and I am currently working on Tipping Point. I started What the Dog Saw but I'm not currently working on it.

New fabric on folding chairs

We got two of these folding chairs from my friend Natalie when she and her husband moved back up to Utah. Miss them. The fabric is from a vintage pillowcase. Which never needs ironing. Good to know.

Duo-green nails

I did a chevron/triangle on my nails in two greens. The darker green is actually more of a sparkle teal but it's hard to tell in the pictures. I got it at this random clothing store for $1 and it's lasted surprisingly well, but it took a long time to dry. I only did black on one hand because I decided I liked it better without.

Officially New Years- only late

So. It's the new year. Yup. Blargh. I'm just a little (lot) late.

My new years resolutions from last year?

I'm basically happy with where I am in relation to those resolutions. Resolutions are flexible. In the past I've felt like I need to do them/ finish/ complete them. I realize now that just doesn't work for me. I like resolutions. Really and truly I do. I think they're a good jumping off point for things you want to achieve. And I also think it's okay if you don't finish all of them. We do them to help us, right? Not to make us feel bad about what we didn't achieve.

So I could have done better. But like I said, I can do better this year. Why haven't I posted since September? I don't know!

Here's what I've got in store for this year:
Some of these are a little different than what I usually do, but it's all about the new year, am I right? Right.

Plus, 2012 is the year of the dragon.
